Account Deletion Policy
At EscrowZW, we believe you should have full control over your data. This policy outlines how you can request the deletion of your account and associated data, in compliance with data protection best practices and Google Play Store requirements.
Warning: Deleting your account is a permanent action. All your active deals must be concluded before you can successfully delete your account.
How to Delete Your Account In-App
You can seamlessly request account deletion directly from the EscrowZW mobile application:
- Open the EscrowZW app and tap on the Profile tab.
- Scroll to the bottom of your profile settings.
- Tap on the Delete Account button.
- You will be prompted to enter your current password to verify your identity.
- Confirm the deletion. Your account and personal data will be scheduled for permanent deletion.
How to Request Deletion via Web/Email
If you no longer have access to the app, you can request account deletion by contacting our support team:
- Email: Send a deletion request to escrowzw@insteltech.co.zw using the email address associated with your EscrowZW account.
- Subject Line: "Account Deletion Request".
- Content: Include your full name and EscrowZW Account Number (ES-XXXXXXXXXX).
Our team will manually verify the request and process the deletion within 7 business days.
What Happens to Your Data?
When your account is deleted, the following actions take place:
- Personal Data: Your name, email, phone number, and Zimswitch details are permanently erased from our active databases.
- Authentication: You will immediately lose access to the application, and your login credentials will be invalidated.
- Transaction Histories: Due to Zimbabwean financial and anti-money laundering regulations, anonymized records of financial transactions you participated in must be securely retained for a minimum statutory period (usually 5 years). Such data is strictly cordoned and is NOT linked to your active profile identity.
Conditions Preventing Immediate Deletion
Your deletion request may be temporarily delayed or denied if:
- You have active, pending, or disputed escrow deals. You must wait for them to complete or cancel them before proceeding.
- You have unsettled balances in your account.
- There is an ongoing dispute or legal investigation involving your account.
